If you’ve ever seen a ’saddle stitched’ book you’ve probably noticed that if they end up sitting ’spine out’ on a shelf they all but vanish. This can cause problems. If all you have is the thin edge sticking out of a packed bookshelf chances are that people will have difficulty finding it. I created this little display out of foam core to help keep 16 Hours to Live from getting lost. I designed it from scratch this morning. It’s pretty sturdy, and I made it so that I can change the graphic on top if I wish.
I still have to design a graphic for the top, but they work well so far. If anyone is interested – just leave a comment and I can turn the template that I created into a PDF so you can build them for your own projects.

Well, just thought that I should update this before I get to work today.
I spent most of last week working and trying to recover from the Christmas/New Years grocery store rush. Oh, and then after that there was the, end of the world/snow storm rush. Of course, this was followed by the social security/gov’t benefits/EBT rush. The end of December into the beginning of January was pretty crazy.
However, I have managed to settle down and actually get some things done. I’ve been working on the 2nd Part of 16 Hours to Live. I’m about 80% finished with the first draft, I plan to finish it today. After that, while I’m letting the first draft cool a bit, I plan to go back and figure out the illustrations (actually a few of them are already thumb nailed, as you can see in the picture…) to go along with the prose. All of this brings me to my next bit of news -
This Tuesday Southport Press, the people behind Mother Goosed: Twisted Rhymes for Modern Times, will be giving a presentation at the southwest library in Kenosha. It starts at 7 and I believe that there will be refreshments. They’ll be talking about the the book and comics in general. I think that there was a press release in the Kenosha News. I’ll be there as well and I’m bringing a lot of the rough draft / preparatory stuff that went into the first 16 Hours to Live comic as well as some of the strips from The Adventures of The Nautilus. I’ll also have copies of 16 Hours to Live for available for sale. It should be a good time – if you want more information you can check out this link: http://mothergoosed.wordpress.com/

This is why we can’t have nice things. I checked in on the forums this morning only to find that there were TONS of posts. Unfortunately, none of them were made by actual humans. This is what I get for incorrectly setting up my PHP forum software. Anyway, the point is – I’m taking the forums down for now. I don’t think that they’ll be missed – in fact, I pretty much know that they won’t. Any discussions that could have happened there can be posted on the main Nautilus site anyway.
